WP-Marquee (WordPress Marquee) is a great plugin for Wordpress that enables site admin’s to be able to update a scrolling marquee with ease. This is done in the form of a plug-in which is highly configurable from the sites admin panel.

Yeah I’m a IE supporter so I never really try it with other browsers. I should and now that you have brought that to my attention I will check it with Firefox and see if i can fix that error.
Edit: With the new version you can set the width and height. That should fix the errors. With Firefox it doesn’t understand widths very well. The next release will be out very soon. Its in the final stages of bug checking.

12. January 9th, 2006, 2:09 pm by Marzar· AUTHOR COMMENT
Just to check, have you activated it in your plugin menu?
Otherwise I don’t know what is wrong. You could try to reinstall the plugin. I just did and it still works for me.
If this doesn’t work, just post the settings you are using for wordpress and i will see if i can find the problem.

I updated to 2.0.3 but the same thing happens. I can’t see the options page while the plugin is active (page comes up blank). But when it is deactive I can see the options and change it. In either state the marquee doesnt display on the main page.

I did a little poking around. Since at one time your nifty plugin did work for me. And I think it might be a compatibility problem with EditorMonkey 2.5 which I recently upgraded to. When I deactivate EditorMonkey with WPMarquee active and then try to enter your options page I get the following error:
“Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wpmarqueewpoptionspage() (previously declared in /home/darkram4/publichtml/WordPress/wp-content/plugins/wp-marquee.php:37) in /home/darkram4/publichtml/WordPress/wp-content/plugins/wp-marquee.php on line 151”

Hello, your wp-marquee looks interesting. I am converting my site from Mambo to WP 2.03 (www.prephighlights.com/blog). I am having a problem getting to the wp-marquee’s options page.
I have download and copied all wp-marquee file into it own directory in the plugins directory. I can activate the plugin , without any errors. When I go to Options->WP-Marquee, I am directed to the site’s home page. I’m missing something…
I have used Firefox, IE6 & Safari with the same results.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

G’day William,
This is an easy fix. Just open the wp-marquee.php file and find around =20
line 80:
Most Current Stable Version =3D < ?php =20
require(?http://www.marzar00.finditmax.com/wp-marqueeversion.html?); ?>
and delete that code. This will remove the update checker, but that is =20
the only way to fix the error. I’am working on a new update checker =20
for future releases.

Sorry I don’t understand the problem you are having. Is it that you are unable to see the settings page or are you unable to see the marquee on your site?

I am still trying to figure out why that error appears. It seems to happen randomly. It may be a bit of my code which clashes with another plug-in’s. I am still working on it and will keep you both posted.

I’d like to be able to scroll a marquee up or down with a list of names. How do I do that? I’ve tried many combinations in the options page to get it right and I’ve had no error messages. Any suggestions?

And how do I hard code moving up and down? Is it in the php file itself?
61. June 18th, 2007, 2:08 pm by Marzar· AUTHOR COMMENT
@Wesley Mullings: Sorry for the delay. New version is almost ready. Anyways back to your q. Yes it is in the php file named: ‘wpmarquee.php’ which should be in your wp-content/plugins folder. However for the moment I recommend that you don’t worry about it as the new version will be XHTML Transitional compliant and will be able to automatically do that for you.

Using Mac OSX , uploaded files wp-marquee.php and wp-marquee.jpg under my plugins directory - I’m using WP 2.1.3 - but when I open the options page and click on the WP-marquee menu’ I’m only able to get a blank page. @ Marzar - Reinstalled it but still the same, getting a blank page when clicking on the WP-marquee menu.Could be a problem caused by others plugins I’m using ? Any others suggestions ? Are the files to upload just two, .php and .jpg ? is it correct to upload themunder the plugins folder/directory or the must be uploaded under the widget one ?
